LONG TIME, NO SEE

Eeek! It's been so long. I was away in San Francisco over our long weekend, and didn'y have time to update before I left. But here I am!

There's alot to talk about, but I'm pressed for time so I will focus on two items.

Item 1: All of you.
I can't thank you enough for your wonderful words at the end of my previous cycle. I know I've said it before, but positive reinforcement never hurts, so here goes: I really don't know how I would get through this voyage of IF without you. Every single one of you. I am so happy that I have found this community. You gals and guys really rock. You understand, you get it, and best of all, you know just what to say. It continues to amaze me that I have you on my "team". Thank you, thank you. Without you I think that the end of last cycle could have been tons worse. Your spirit and your words helped me move forward alot faster than I thought I would be able to.

Which brings me to Item 2: This cycle.
Imagine my surprise when my message that I left on the clinic's voice mail was returned with a "come in for a CD3 appointment". (In the past the RE has consistently recommended a cycle off with BCPs.) My u/s revealed a small cyst, but we got the go ahead to proceed with another cycle! Talk about getting up, brushing the dirt of my knees and getting right back on the horse. I was shocked, relieved and excited.

Our protocol is much the same as with our 4 previous inj cycles, with an increase in my Pur.egon dosage. This time: 5mg Fem.ara CD3-7, 60IU Pur.egon starting on CD5. (That's up from 40IU last cycle.) Oh, and as I expressed my concern about AF coming 3 days early we will probably do a progesterone supplement (in pill form- any info on that would be appreciated!) post IUI. The best part- my doctor okayed me to cycle even though I was heading out of town. (I know, not the best option, but we were all pretty confident about how my responds.)

Today is CD12. Yesterday's wanding showed 6 follies around the 13mm mark. We are on the right track. As with our other cycles, everything is moving according to plan.

And now, presenting a preview of topics for future posts: 1-Questions and Answers with my RE and Nurse; 2-The interst that my mother has finally taken in our IF since she has found out that Ih ave been sharing everything with my aunt; and 3-Some tags (hey, I will soon be 2 week waiting so I need to fill my up my time!)

I know, you'll all be refreshing with baited breath.

Welcome home!

I'm glad you're back in the saddle and moving ahead! I've done progesterone suppositories before (better than PIO) for non-IVF cycles. My understanding is that you can't do progesterone orally, it doesn't get absorbed properly. Such a bummer.

hurray! and you're off and running again! doesn't it feel good to be actively doing something? I HATE having to take a break and be on BCPs, it feels like such a time waster, although I know the docs must know what they're talking about when they order us to do so.

Ditto Samantha - the only progesterone I've taken for "support" at the end of a cycle is the suppositories. I've heard people say they really, really hate those, but I didn't find them all THAT bad. When I've taken progesterone orally, it was always to induce a period, since I don't get them on my own. That always strikes me as slightly twisted, that I need to take the same hormone to trick my body into having a period, as I do to support a potential pregnancy. Although I understand the reason - you actually start bleeding as a reaction from the withdrawal of the progesterone - it just seems bizarre?? I'll be checking back religiously to see how this cycle goes!!

Welcome back and I'm glad you enjoyed the long weekend away!

Progesterone... I've done this one orally. My doc gives me 200 mg of progesterone (two round pills) to be taken orally every night before bed. I ought to ask him about the suppositories, but so far, he seems to promote this one. Maybe a switch to suppositories would be beneficial... and give me the BFP I'm desperately trying to achieve.

Keep us posted! And good luck!

Wow!!! This is some great news! Finally it seems to be an upswing from the previous cycles. I'm glad they're going to put you on prog supplements after your 11 day LP last time. Good lookin follicles too!

You were in san Francisco and didn't call me?!?

:-(

Did my crazy stories scare you off? Next time, lady!

I'm glad you're getting right back in the swing of things, good luck.

And I took a pill form of progesterone, but an all-natural kind that I'm sure a regular MD would not prescribe, I got it from my acupuncturist and I experienced terrible PMS-like symptoms the whole time I was on it.

I found the suppositories much easier to take, they really aren't that bad.

Keep us posted!!

Welcome back! I'm excited that you're cycling again. Honestly, I feel like I live vicariously through all of you in blogland, because I feel like it's been so long since I actually had a shot at getting pregnant (and knew about it). Go you!

Yay, glad you're starting up a new cycle. I always feel like it's the only thing that would take my mind off the previous one...I'm rooting for you!

I did the progesterone suppositories and they're not too bad. I didn't have any side effects as far as I could tell. The only real downside is the "leakage" which is a little annoying. Stock up on pantiliners :)

Yes, the pantiliners are essential! The progesterone is in an oil base so they can be leaky.

I am on day 8 of my ivf cycle today - here's to hoping June is a good month for us! :)
